Detox from heavy metals with Cilantro!
Cilantro is by far my favorite herb for 2 reasons.1. I have a Mexican food obsession and cilantro can turn a good post-surf burrito into a heavenly post-surf burrito.2. Cilantro is extremely powerful at detoxifying the body from heavy metals.Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, aluminum and cadmium are shown to build up in organs such as the kidneys and liver, and chelate (attach themselves) to bones where minerals are deficient. In the world that we live in it is impossible to avoid heavy metals completely. However, you can significantly reduce exposure by avoiding canned foods, pesticides, hydrogenated fats, or fish with high levels of mercury. Using aluminum cookware, or toxic deodorants are also likely to contribute to heavy metal build up so go for toxic free cookware and body products.Cilantro is unique in terms of detoxification as it is able to cross the blood brain barrier and pull heavy metals from the central nervous system. If you didn’t know, heavy metals are extremely difficult to remove from the body so this makes cilantro a dietary hero!
